To cure a fear of flying, you will need only look to yourself. You do not need medication or expensive therapy in order to finally board that plane and fly without panic, you just need to know how to handle the panic you’re feeling. And the easiest way to tackle your flying phobia is to simply get out of your head. Your brain is the supply of all of your worry and anxiety and when you learn how to stop paying attention to it, there is a key to being able to fly comfortably.
A straightforward solution that I have found is within two books, one, The strength of Now and the other A fresh Earth. Both were published by Eckhart Tolle, a spiritual teacher who has uncovered a simple way to spiritual enlightenment. His powerful yet simple message to find the joy in being is transforming the lives of several around the globe. Within the pages of his books, he outlines the key to quieting your mind and how you can get back control of yourself simply by learning to listen to what the human brain is saying. By being the observer with the voice in your head you start to understand that the real you does not take residence in your thoughts; and that actually the person you hear in your mind can be quiet detrimental for your survival.
This is definitely the situation when you try to fly, it’s almost a given how the panic that takes hold derives from your brain. The messages which can be telling your body to panic and flee usually are not based in reality however, it’s impossible for you to tell the future, no way for you to know whether or not your trip is going to be a safe one; but then again there is no way for you to know otherwise either why worry about it?
It may look silly, especially if you have been dealing with the fear to fly for a long time, however if you can learn to disregard your thoughts you may find, while i did, that your fears subside almost immediately. You begin to see that the only moment that really matters is now understanding that the past and future haven’t any hold over you. This powerful realization stumbled on me after reading both his books plus they make work for you also.
It can be extremely difficult to stay in the now however, life is constantly being thrown towards you and it can be a battle to stay out of your head. All it takes is practice and the thought it can be done, which it can. And if you use these tools particularly when you are about to take a flight you can learn to control how your body and mind reacts in situations similar to this.
